The Milwaukee Highland Games are returning for 2022 on Saturday, June 4th at a new location: CROATIAN PARK – 9100 S. 76th Street, Franklin, WI!
SAS will need volunteers to help put up and take down our tent, and for volunteers to be present at the tent from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Steve Perrigo, our Activities Secretary, will not be able to attend the games, so we need some one to step up to volunteer to organize our participation that day.
If interested in volunteering, please contact Steve Perrigo at steveperrigo44@gmail.com or info@saintandrewsmilwaukee.org.
The Milwaukee Highland Games are one of the city’s oldest and longest-running ethnic festivals. Organized by the St. Andrew’s Society in 1867, the festival took place in Mitchell Grove. Throughout the late 19th century, festival attendance peaked in 1892 at 25,000. Competitors from around America traveled to Milwaukee to participate in traditional Scottish athletic events while enjoying Scottish music and culture. The games were discontinued following the outbreak of WW I, resuming in 1937 and continue to the present day.
