In 2005 the National Trust in Scotland undertook the project of updating and upgrading the historical Culloden battlefield in the Highlands of Scotland. Their main focus was to build a new visitors center which would replace the very old and underwhelming facilities there and worldwide fundraising efforts were undertaken. The Trust reached out to Saint Andrew’s Society’s worldwide and informed us of opportunities to donate funds to purchase memorial stones that would create a paved entrance to the new Culloden Visitor's Center. SAS MKE's Executive Board voted to proudly contribute to this historic opportunity and purchased a customized stone with our name as our donation to this important project.
The new visitor's center is well worth a visit and highly recommended. While there, you can find our stone in the path way north of the car park, look for the second boarder light, the stone is slightly left of center next to the light. (Thank you to SAS Past President, Dave Berger, for this information).
